For the weekend my dad, sister and her boyfriend joined us and we did what all sensible people visiting somewhere warm and sandy do...pack up the shovels and hit the beach! Aren't my beach babies so sweet...and sandy??!!

The day started with Sawyer helping my dad get some work done, and I am sure he was a very effective helper!

and then we "suited up", rented a yellow umbrella and settled into a spot on the white shelly sand. It was breezy and hot and all things a good day at the beach should be!

There was playing in the sand with friends....

(note the tiger atop the castle)

sweet baby beach feet,

relaxing and reading,

tropical snoozes,

one great view,

sisterly love,

and hubby love:),

and Sawyer giving Grandpa driving tips for the way home!

Our last night there we went out for a super yummy dinner on an outdoor patio and it was a great way to wrap up a great trip.

We came home with sun tans...ok a few burns too, lots of happy memories,
and this....

the little boy initiation into summer...a skid on the cement at the pool!

"I DO Love Tigers!"

One of our favorite outings in Florida was to the Naples Zoo! Seriously so GREAT! It was small with tons of animals you could see fairly up close, free shows and a boat ride, and had a really tropical vibe to it which made it feel really different from the ones in Chicago or Omaha.

Griffin reignited his love/terrified affair with Tigers and kept telling us,
"I do love tigers!"
So you can imagine that it was hard not to leave without the small plastic tiger that he has carried around non stop since!

My mom flew in a day earlier than the rest of the clan who came for a long weekend, and trekked it to the zoo with us!

We marveled at these AMAZING trees...

snuggled up on a boat ride around these little islands which house different kinds of monkeys and even some lemurs who were oh so cute!

Beanie did his afternoon snooze on my back,

and enjoyed some playground time with Griffy!

and we have relived the tales of it every day since!

ROARRRRR!!!!!!

"Happy to Get Away!!"

One afternoon last week looked like this for the Eccleston family. Just sitting on the dock, watching huge fish and crazy big pelicans dart around in their giant aquarium home we like to call the ocean. What a sweet little piece of heaven!

And of coarse those snap shots are thankfully what we usually remember a few years down the road when you can forget or block out the fact that getting to that dock, that sweet and glorious moment, didn't come easy. We don't necessarily recommend doing an out of your way connecting flight which takes all day with 2 small children for parents sanity, in case anyone wanted to know our thoughts on that!! But hey...cheaper is cheaper, right!!??!!

Ryan got his exercise for the year trying to load, unload, carry, chase after, hold, wait and sprint after Griffin and all the luggage that I tried ever so hard to pack lightly...ha ha!

The boys were fascinated with everything plane and got a great dose of traveling under their wings.

and now all the boys can say they have been to New York, although we decided to wait to purchase these shirts until we had all stepped out of the airport onto Big Apple soil:)!

All that caused many a melt down but honestly was worth every moment of traveling terror when we I got to this...

Hello Sunshine:)

WORTH IT! TOTALLY!

The first few days consisted of just the 4 us at the pool...

perfecting our swimming and jumping stylings,

hanging out with 2 ridiculous and adorably nerdy looking matching swimsuit clad boys,

and perfecting our smiles and tans!

After the pool every afternoon we hit up this deliciously big tub (pool time #2) for the boys to get all cleaned up from the sand and surf and get ready for dinner and jammies!

This trip was the epitome of FAMILY TRIP with little sprinkles of VACATION for Ry and I mixed in here and there:)! There were some moments of sheer insanity, someone who decided that sleeping wasn't really all that necessary (not to throw anyone under the bus, but Sawyer, really???), sun burns, 1 strawberry daiquiri spilled in someone's crotch and just the stress of traveling with 2 small children. But honestly, as I look back through these pictures I am overwhelmingly feeling so blessed that God made a way for us to get away and have some of these experiences with our kids. Ryan and I even got a "date" night in there which was one of my favorite parts of the trip...think kids in bed, a glass of wine, candles, yummy take out food and your best friend all to your self on the porch in Florida. This is my BLISS! It was a very short moment, but it was one indeed! And these snap shots will tide me over and motivate me to go through all the motions to do it again, we had such a great time!!

Concert for One

Two little eyes seemed lonely and sad in the bathtub the other night.

So one bigger boy came to one little boy’s rescue with a private bathtub concert for one.

This is why God made brothers.

The way they smile at each other is the absolute BEST.
